Why the Gospel of Christ Jesus is Truly Good News for All
Knowing Jesus
My freshman year at Westmont College, a private Christian College in Santa Barbara, was tough. I was emotionally unprepared for life on my own. I was socially awkward around my peers. And, though I had been a Christian for years, I was not ready for the questions raised by an academic examination of the Christian faith. I hit the concept of Predestination (more on that later) like a brick wall, and became deeply worried about my own salvation. Thought I never stopped loving God, I became uncertain of God’s love for me.
Then, one late afternoon early in my sophomore year, during a lovely hike through the mountains of Montecito, in a moment of sheer grace, I just knew, God loves me, God will take care of me, it will be okay. I have carried this assurance with me ever since.
This is the assurance I have in Jesus, God with is and for us, now and forever. Jesus is the embodiment of God’s eternal love. Jesus is the teacher who shows us the way of authentic and abundant life. Jesus is the savior of the whole wide world.
Knowing Jesus, I know my unshakable identity as a beloved child of God. I know my life has meaning and purpose. I know that all shall be well, everything will be okay, nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
My hope in writing these words is that you will know Jesus, too. You will know the peace he brings. You will trust in him, and have life in his name.
Come and see…
